Touch Me Hold Me Let Me Go: A Dance of Connection & Care

An Invitation to Experience Movement, Breath, and Togetherness

What does it mean to dance with the planet? To move in rhythm with our loved ones, our communities, and the very air we breathe? Touch Me Hold Me Let Me Go is more than a performance—it is an invitation to explore our bodies as vessels of wisdom, memory, and connection.

This multi-media lecture-performance by Vancouver-based, Malaysia-born artist Lee Su-Feh is coming to Kuala Lumpur for three special shows in March 2025. Presented by Five Arts Centre, the performance is a journey of movement, sound, and immersive participation. It is a lecture, a poem, a sing-along. A workshop, a recital, a dance party. Above all, it is an algorithm—a set of instructions, not for machines, but for human bodies to move in ways that are gentle, sustainable, and deeply felt.

A Thoughtful Alternative to Digital Algorithms

Su-Feh’s work challenges the way modern algorithms—hidden within our devices and online platforms—shape our relationships. Instead, Touch Me Hold Me Let Me Go offers an algorithm of a different kind, rooted in breath, presence, and our intrinsic ability to connect. In this performance, audiences are invited (but never coerced) into shared moments of breathing, listening, moving, and singing together.

"I hope the audience gets an experience of their bodies: to have all the feelings—joy, grief, anger—and be able to process them through movement and voice (even if it’s in the smallest of ways). That they experience being with other humans without having to abandon themselves. That they remember that we are part of the natural world and to take that as a responsibility we have to the planet and all it holds, even as we move into a high-speed digital world," says Su-Feh.

The Evolution of the Work

Su-Feh first introduced Touch Me Hold Me Let Me Go in Kuala Lumpur in 2023. Reflecting on that early version, she shares:

"The earlier version was quite raw—literally us, me, Kent Lee, and Syamsul Azhar, meeting each other and the audience in material that I had developed on Zoom alone, in the isolation of Covid lockdown. We were just feeling it out, jamming and playing. This latest iteration has more form and structure, even though there is still a fair amount of play and improvisation. I have clearer direction about space, my relationship with the audience, the role of music and lighting as my partners in facilitating a journey for the audience."

With this new iteration, the performance has evolved into a richer, more refined experience that retains its spontaneity while offering a clearer journey for both performers and audience members.

A Collaboration of Artistic Visionaries

The performance is shaped by a collective of thoughtful and innovative artists, each bringing their unique expertise:
