Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 20 March 2025 – SOKONG, Malaysia’s digital fundraising platform committed to connecting people with impactful causes, has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with GoBarakah, a fintech innovator in charitable giving, to enhance transparency and efficiency in fundraising and aid distribution.
The signing took place during GoBarakah’s launch of its e-voucher programme on 17 March 2025 at Dorsett Hartamas. The programme, which aims to raise RM1.2 million for 200 registered orphanages across Malaysia, provides grocery and utility/rental e-vouchers, ensuring that donations are directly channeled toward essential needs.
Supported by YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, the initiative highlights the importance of technology-driven solutions in addressing social challenges.
A Strategic Collaboration for Greater Impact
This partnership marks a significant step forward in SOKONG’s mission to empower donors and organisations through transparent and impactful giving. Under the MOC, SOKONG will integrate GoBarakah’s Smart Giving E-Voucher Platform into its fundraising efforts, enabling seamless and accountable distribution of donations.
Through this collaboration, donations made via SOKONG can be converted into e-vouchers, ensuring aid reaches the right beneficiaries while providing donors with real-time visibility into how their contributions are utilised.
Additionally, both platforms will explore joint initiatives to facilitate direct donations to beneficiaries, expanding access to aid beyond traditional NGO models.
Leveraging Technology for Transparency and Trust
Since its inception, SOKONG has been dedicated to fostering collective action by making it easier for Malaysians to discover and support organisations driving positive change. This partnership aligns with SOKONG’s commitment to ensuring that every ringgit donated makes a real difference, particularly for vulnerable communities.
“At SOKONG, we believe in bridging the gap between donors and those in need through technology,” said Syed Sadiq Albar, Director of Partnerships of SOKONG, a platform under Yayasan Malaysiakini. “Our collaboration with GoBarakah strengthens this commitment by introducing a more transparent and efficient way to channel aid where it’s needed most.”
A Shared Vision for the Future
By combining GoBarakah’s fintech innovation with SOKONG’s community-driven fundraising approach, this partnership sets the stage for a more inclusive and impactful charitable ecosystem in Malaysia.
“This collaboration represents a major milestone in redefining how Malaysians give,” added Firdaus Mohamed, CEO of LC Wakaful Digital Sdn. Bhd., the owner and operator of GoBarakah. “Together, we are building a system where donations are traceable, transparent, and directly beneficial to those in need.”
