Kuala Lumpur, February 22, 2025 – The Children Cancer Association Malaysia (CCAM) successfully hosted its Gala Night Fundraising Dinner on February 22, 2025, at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, in conjunction with International Childhood Cancer Day. The evening was a heartwarming gathering of supporters, corporate sponsors, and the public, all coming together to raise awareness and funds for children fighting cancer in Malaysia.
A Mission of Urgency and Hope
The event was generously sponsored by Tan Sri Dato' Seri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, reinforcing the urgency of supporting children with cancer. International Childhood Cancer Day (February 15) serves as a global reminder of the need for awareness, timely medical treatment, and financial support to help children receive life-saving treatments without delay.
In Malaysia, many families struggle with the overwhelming financial burden of cancer treatments. The funds raised from this gala will ensure that children in need receive critical medical intervention as early as possible. As emphasised throughout the evening, early intervention is crucial in improving survival rates and recovery outcomes for children diagnosed with cancer.
An Evening of Inspiration and Commitment
The Gala Night was not just about fundraising—it was a celebration of resilience, hope, and collective action. Lavaniyah Ganapathy, Founder and President of CCAM, expressed heartfelt gratitude, emphasising the power of unity in making a real difference for children battling cancer. The night featured musical performances, inspiring speeches, and heartfelt presentations that moved the audience.
One of the most powerful moments of the night was the speech delivered by Dato' Dr. Siva Ananthan, CCAM's advisor, who urged the community to take responsibility in supporting children with cancer.
“Profits are primary, humanity is secondary, and the children are the collateral damage.”
This statement served as a sobering reminder that, too often, vulnerable children suffer as an unintended consequence of societal priorities. But the night also carried a message of empowerment and action:
“We have superpowers to help these children and change their future.”
“Our superpower is believing and uniting for a cause. Kindness is our superpower. The world and children need kindness.”
