Burden of Proof: A new work by Dabble Dabble Jer Collective

Burden of Proof is the highly anticipated debut theatre production by Dabble Dabble Jer Collective, one of Penang’s most exciting and promising arts collective. This new work is an inclusive, multi-disciplinary devised theatre production about sexual violence in Malaysia.

Based on real-life accounts, the production combines varied art forms including dramatic monologue, movement and original music to shed light on the lived experiences of sexual violence. The work is a creative response to submissions received from victim-survivors who contributed to the nationwide open call in early 2023.

In Burden of Proof, the Collective invites audience members to delve deep into what it means to be a survivor of sexual violence and the weight of survival. Through this work, audiences will journey into a collective awareness and responsibility towards the global fight against sexual and gender-based violence.
